Choga (草家) is a traditional thatched house in a rural area before modernization. We are meliting the spirit into our products as much as it contains the unique sentiment of Korea.

Choga is a name that expresses the hope that the wine we make will promote the excellence of Korean wine in the global market.

About

It is an old house in Korea. We call it ‘choga’. You are reminded of a traditional rural thatched house before modernization called (草家). When we say that the name of our company, which started as a makgeolli manufacturer in 2005, is that of makgeolli, it is natural to think that it is related to makgeolli, but it was not the concept above.

When a Korean brand is expressed in a foreign language, it is difficult to accurately convey the letters with ‘Syllable final sound’ in Alphabat. The English pronunciation of Korea’s representative electronics and automobile companies is read very differently from the pronunciation of the original language.

For this reason, when naming the company, I chose a word that does not have a ‘syllable final sound’, and I searched for the word ‘thatched’, a word that did not contain two or more vowels if possible. Moreover, I liked that ‘choga’ even more because it fits the Korean sentiment.

I hope it will be a little bit of reference for companies looking to enter the global market in the future.
